How to Use
- Step 1: Prepare the Pipes: Ensure the pipe threads are clean and free of debris. Use a wire brush to remove any rust or old sealant – See Figure 1.
- Step 2: Apply Sealant: Apply Teflon tape or pipe thread sealant to the male threads of the pipe. Wrap the tape clockwise, overlapping each layer slightly – See Figure 2.
- Step 3: Connect the Fitting: Screw the 1" female end of the fitting onto the male threaded pipe. Tighten by hand until snug.
- Step 4: Tighten with a Wrench: Use a pipe wrench to further tighten the fitting. Apply firm, steady pressure, turning the wrench until the connection is secure and leak-proof. Be careful not to overtighten, which could damage the threads – See Figure 3.
- Step 5: Test for Leaks: After installation, turn on the water or gas supply and check for leaks around the fitting. If leaks are detected, tighten the fitting slightly more or reapply sealant and repeat the process – See Figure 4.
